ULLIN, IL (February 15, 2023) – February is Career and Technical Education Month. On Thursday, February 23, hundreds of high school students from around southern Illinois will visit Shawnee Community College for its annual CTE Day.
The day will include hands-on experiences facilitated by SCC faculty, students, and staff. High school students can explore the many opportunities available in Career and Technical Education.
The morning session runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the afternoon session going from noon to 2 p.m. Students can choose three areas of interest to visit on campus.
“CTE Day is a great opportunity for Shawnee Community College to introduce high school students to career options they may have never considered. We hope that by showcasing these opportunities, students will be more prepared for their future after high school,” said Dr. Kristin Shelby, Dean of Transfer and Adult Education at Shawnee Community College.

- Basic Residential Electricity

- Nursing and Allied Health
- Occupational Therapy (morning session only)
- Science and Technology

- Truck Driving
- Welding
