SUMMARY

The Human Resource Operations Specialist will assist the Executive Director of Human Resources with the daily operations of the Human Resources department including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, personal growth training, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.  Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires the incumbent to exercise independent judgment and discretion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Experience working in a human resource department

Preferred:

  • At least one year of human resource management experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

LEADERSHIP

  1. Create and sustain a supportive College culture that engages employees, recognizes diversity, ensures equity, promotes inclusion and creates a sense of belonging by fostering an environment of teamwork, accountability, communication, and vision.
  2. Provide knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources, and talent management.

ADMINISTRATION/MANAGEMENT

  1. Facilitate the recruitment, selection, and pre-employment processes to acquire skilled and qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborate with Senior Leadership to understand the skills and competencies required for openings.
  2. Onboard new employees to the College, including but not limited to identifying, assessing, and developing the skills necessary to perform job responsibilities.
  3. Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, licensure, and work assessments.
  4. Establish procedures to meet priorities and maintain an efficient workflow; recommend, organize and follow up on projects
  5. Handle employment-related inquiries utilizing tact and good judgment to respond to situations as they arise on behalf of the Executive Director of Human Resources.
  6. Sustain personnel files and Faculty Qualification Audits.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  1. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to recommend best practices.
  2. Participation in Shared Governance Committees.

FISCAL

  1. Assist in the formulation of the HR budget and planning functions.
  2. Monitor and reconcile the HR budget.

OTHER

  1. Perform other related duties which may be required by the Executive Director of Human Resources (i.e. duties that may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but are generally within the occupational series and responsibility level associated with the employee’s class of work).
  2. General work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Evening or weekend hours may be required to participate in other college activities outside of regular working hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Lifting:  Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.  Lifting items to 20 pounds in weight.

Sitting for prolonged periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT    

Work is primarily in an office/school environment.  Noise levels usually are moderate.

SALARY RANGE:  $42,000 – $44,000
