Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Prevention

Report Anonymously

Fraud, waste, and abuse can take various forms and can happen at any organization despite the existence of effective internal controls and policies. Each member of the college has a responsibility to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct. The Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Prevention Program requires the involvement of all to protect our community. Please help us make the program a success by reporting suspected improper or questionable acts.

What are Fraud, Waste, and Abuse?

Fraud is an intentional misleading act carried out for the purpose of causing a detriment to another and/or bringing about some benefit to oneself or others.

Waste is an act resulting in the expenditure, consumption, or mismanagement of institutional assets or resources to the detriment or potential detriment of the institution.

Abuse involves behavior that is deficient or improper when compared with behavior that a prudent person would consider as a reasonable and necessary business practice given the facts and circumstances.

Think Before You Speak

Although proof of an improper activity is not required to report an incident of fraud, waste or abuse, one must have reasonable grounds for suspecting the improper activity. Remember, such allegations could seriously and negatively affect the accused individual’s life as well as adversely affect the working environment of the department.

Reporting Fraud, Waste, and Abuse

Suspected cases of fraud, waste or abuse can be reported anonymously. Reports can also be made confidentially without fear of retaliation. Confidentially will be maintained for all during the investigation process.

Several options are available to all college employees, students and others for reporting known or suspected acts of fraud, waste and abuse.

Below are the contacts for reporting incidents. When reporting, please include a description of the questionable activity, names of individuals involved, and the date/time or other further identifying information that will help in the investigation process.

Employees have the option to report issues to their immediate supervisor, the human resource office, or a member of the college administrative team.
