Shawnee Community College hosts an annual large-scale theatrical production during the fall semester, in the Educational Center. The auditorium/theatre was constructed in 2001.
Auditions for the fall production are open to the public for ages 8 to adult and are usually held in September. Cast members participate in three rehearsals a week for approximately two months. Each production has four matinee and two evening performances. The fall performances are usually in early November.
The SCC Drama Camp is open to children ages 8-12. Taking place in the second week of June, drama students write their own original scripts for a short monologue. The Camp teaches impromptu performance, creating prose and other drama lessons through creative games. Students can choose to participate in a group for poetry or short skits.
