SCC Music Department Hosts a Breakfast with Santa

The holiday season is upon us, and you can put a little holiday cheer in your festivities by attending the SCC Music Department’s Breakfast with Santa on December 18th at Shawnee Community College’s main campus! Beginning at 9:00 a.m., attendees will have an opportunity to eat with Santa as they mingle with friends and family and other special guests, including Mrs. Claus and The Grinch. You can enjoy family-friendly activities, including a candy cane hunt, photo ops, and a spectacular time of spreading Christmas cheer!

Shawnee Community College Announces the “Haunted Trails at SCC”

ULLIN, IL. – Shawnee Community College has announced its upcoming Haunted Trail event on Saturday, October 30th from 5:00 – 10:00 pm. The event will take place on SCC’s Main Campus in Ullin, IL. Activities will include games, Trunk-or-Treat beginning at 5:00 pm, and a hayride beginning at 5:00 pm. The cost to attend is $5.00 for kids ages 6 and over and $30.00 for groups of 6 or more. The trail includes an escorted walk throughout the wooded area on campus, where creepy, lingering creatures will be hiding in the darkness. The Haunted Trail will be dialed down for younger thrill-seekers as necessary.  All proceeds for this event will help support the Shawnee College Phi Theta Kappa & SCC Music Club. Continuing Education Center Launches ElderReach ‘Tech for Seniors’ Training Program

The new program has been providing learning opportunities for only a few weeks, but already there has been significant interest. The college has partnered with the Egyptian Area Agency on Aging to offer a ‘Tech for Seniors’ computer/tablet navigation course for seniors at the West Vienna Senior Center, in West Vienna, Illinois, along with other senior centers throughout the region. The workshops teach basic computer skills, including conducting Zoom meetings for seniors who want to connect via video conferencing with family members who may live too far to visit frequently.
