Statement

In accordance with Public Act 099-0278: Student Optional Disclosure of Private Mental Health Act, Shawnee Community College shall ensure that every new student is given the opportunity to complete and submit an authorization form at or near the time an incoming student enrolls at the institution. Shawnee Community College will provide the student the opportunity to authorize or decline in writing the disclosure of certain private mental health information to a designated person.

In the event that the institution’s qualified examiner’s evaluation determines that the student poses a clear danger to himself, herself, or others, the examiner shall, as soon as practicable, but in no more than 24 hours, attempt to contact and notify the student’s designated person that said determination has been made.
