NOTE: The Saints Foundation is an independent, appendant organization, that operates in support of Shawnee Community College, but its personnel are not employed by the College.

 

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Saints Foundation Board, with guidance from the College President, the Executive Director serves as the Foundation’s chief fundraising and development officer. This role requires a strategic and results-driven leader who can develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives that drive resource development, donor engagement, and community partnerships. The Executive Director will administer fundraising campaigns, grant writing, alumni relations, donor stewardship, event planning, and board development to advance the Foundation’s mission in alignment with Shawnee Community College’s goals.

The Executive Director will receive administrative support from the College but will not have supervisory authority over College personnel.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to communicate and develop relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.

PREFFERED

  • Minimum of four years of progressive administrative experience with a demonstrated successful fundraising, donor relations, and strategic planning track record.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, higher education advancement, or grant writing.
  • Proficiency in Razor’s Edge CRM for donor tracking and engagement.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Scholarship Management program.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks for financial tracking.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT

  1. Lead the development and execution of the Foundation’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  2. Establish measurable fundraising goals, including annual giving, major gifts, and capital campaigns.
  3. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation, representing its values, initiatives, and impact to donors, partners, and the broader community.
  4. Strengthen the Saints Foundation Board by supporting recruitment, orientation, and professional development for Directors.
  5. Build and implement an alumni engagement strategy, including an active alumni association, networking events, and alumni giving programs.
  6. Participate in community engagement activities (e.g., civic organizations, chambers of commerce, service clubs) to increase awareness of the Foundation’s work.

 

GRANT WRITING & INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

  1. Identify grant opportunities; coordinate the writing and submission of grant proposals to secure funding for the Foundation and the College.
  2. Track grant compliance and reporting to ensure alignment with funding requirements.
  3. Develop strategic institutional partnerships with businesses, foundations, and government agencies to enhance fundraising efforts.

 

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  1. Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to increase awareness of the Saints Foundation and its impact.
  2. Oversee the Foundation’s digital presence, including social media, website content, and email marketing campaigns to engage donors and alumni.
  3. Ensure all branding and marketing efforts align with Shawnee Community College’s marketing guidelines.

 

FISCAL OVERSIGHT & ADMINISTRATION

  1. Develop and manage the annual Foundation budget, ensuring alignment with College financial policies.
  2. Monitor and authorize expenditures following established guidelines.
  3. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local nonprofit operations and fundraising regulations.
  4. Utilize QuickBooks as needed for financial tracking and reporting.

 

DATA MANAGEMENT & REPORTING

  1. Utilize Razor’s Edge CRM to track donor engagement, manage fundraising campaigns, and analyze giving trends.
  2. Administer Blackbaud Scholarship Management program to ensure effective distribution and tracking of scholarships.
  3. Develop quarterly and annual reports for the Saints Foundation Board and the College President, providing insights on fundraising performance and donor impact.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong fundraising and donor stewardship skills, with demonstrated success in securing major gifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong grant-writing and proposal development experience.
  • Proficiency in Razor’s Edge CRM, Blackbaud Scholarship Management, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
