ULLIN, IL (February 12, 2025) – Shawnee Community College is pleased to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has recognized the College with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal year 2025 budget. This marks the third consecutive year that the College has received this honor.
“This award represents a significant achievement by Shawnee Community College. It reflects the governing body and staff commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” said Chris Morrill, Executive Director/CEO of the Government Finance Officers Association.
Shawnee Community College had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation to receive the award. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
“Receiving this honor three years in a row is a wonderful reminder of the dedication of our team at Shawnee Community College. We’re committed to maintaining a balanced budget each year while continuing to provide high-quality education and services to our community,” said Shawnee Community College Vice President of Administrative Services Chris Clark.
