Criminal Justice Program Announces Upcoming Accident Reconstruction Expert Presentation

ULLIN, IL. – Officer Eric Howard of the Shawnee Community College Criminal Justice Program recently announced the college is hosting Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Specialist Sgt. Ronnie Stanton. The presentation is scheduled for September 22 at 10:00 am and will take place in the SCC Education Center located on the college’s main campus.

Sgt. Stanton’s program will focus on how accident reconstruction helps law enforcement officials better understand accident-related injuries and vehicle damage. Stanton has been in law enforcement for over 20 years and has worked countless traffic crashes, including multiple accidents with fatalities. “We are excited to welcome Sgt. Stanton said SCC Criminal Justice Instructor Eric Howard. “The work accident reconstructionists do includes documenting and studying evidence that helps to develop conclusions about accident causes. You can find out a lot about an accident through reconstruction, including different factors that may have led to the accident such as speeding or distracted driving.”

The program is open to the public; however, due to current Covid restrictions, guests are asked to register online https://www.shawneecc.edu/community-education to ensure adequate spacing for attendees. The event will also be streamed via ZOOM at the following link: https://shawneecc-edu.zoom.us/j/96988633015 Meeting ID: 969 8863 3015.
