Actions from the August 2026 Shawnee Community College Board of Trustees Meeting

(Ullin, IL) August 22, 2026. The Board of Trustees of Shawnee Community College held its regular meeting on August 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM on the main campus and via teleconference. Agenda and Consent Agenda

At its Regular Meeting on August 20, 2026, the Board approved the agenda and consent agenda which included approval of Regular Board meeting minutes from June 18, 2026; Special Board meeting minutes of June 16, June 30, July 14, July 27 and August 6, 2026; approval of an interfund transfer; acceptance of the treasurer’s report; ratification of June & July bills; acceptance of the personnel report with the removal of the resignation of Karen McGoy; the approval of the 2026 Summer graduates; ratification of the Summer 2026 Adjunct and Full-Time Faculty stipends; approval of the FY27 Risk Management Manual and amending the FY27 Board Policy Manual.

 

Presentation of Executive Search Firms

The Board approved the hire of the Pauly Group as the executive search firm to conduct the Presidential Search process.

 

Board Finance Committee Charge

The Board approved the revised Board Finance Committee Charge.

 

Trustee Engagement in the Community

The Board declared its intent to support and attend community engagement opportunities.

 

Energy Benchmarking Project

The Board approved the lowest qualified bid for the Energy Benchmarking Project

 

Task Order Approvals

The Board approved two task orders: Union County Extension Center Sprinkler System and Main Campus Protection, Health, & Safety Maintenance projects.

 

Administrative/Employee Related

The Board was introduced to Megan Mercado, ETS Academic Specialist. The Personnel report listed the resignation of Sophia Conley, Administrative Support Assistant (effective August 4, 2026) and Matthew Steinmetz, HVAC/Maintenance Technician (effective August 21, 2026) as well as the transfer of employment of Tara Huffman to HCCTP Coordinator (effective July 16, 2026). Other notable actions as well as previously approved full-time and part-time vacancies were also listed.
