Care Teams
Campus Care Teams are designed to reach out to students who seem to be struggling and intervene when red flag behaviors are identified. These efforts help address broader campus safety concerns.
Led by the Director of Student Success, Care Team members from Counseling, the Accessibility and Resource Office, Campus Security and other departments meet regularly to review and address issues of concern. Campus Care Teams help students with issues ranging from disruptive behavior to threats of self-harm or harm to others.
Reporting a Student of Concern
Concerned about a student? Express your concerns via this form as soon as possible.
Crisis Situations – Call 911 then follow up with campus police. If a student exhibits behaviors that you believe indicates immediate danger to the student, to yourself or to someone else call 911 immediately. A call to Campus Security at 618-634-3232 once you are in a safe place is encouraged.
Care Team Response
Forms are reviewed promptly and consideration given as to how best to address issues raised. Struggling students will be referred to campus resources such as Counseling, Accessibility Resources, or to community resources as needed.
Why Tell Someone?
The student may be demonstrating similar concerning behavior elsewhere at SCC (another class, campus, offices, cafeteria, etc.). Knowing the extent of the concerning behaviors can be helpful in determining the best level of intervention.

Campus Security is responsible for ensuring physical safety on campus by providing officers and safety information.
Counseling provides numerous supportive services including confidential mental-health counseling for a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief, and stress management.
The Accessibility and Resource Office coordinates accommodations, auxiliary aids, support services and resources for students at all SCC sites as well as its satellite locations.
In addition to providing support services to students, The Accessibility and Resource Office supports faculty in providing student accommodations. The office also provides faculty training and education opportunities related to accessibility and teaching students with disabilities.
The Director of Student Success works with students, faculty and staff in matters related to advocacy for any student in distress, student conduct violations, grievances and student development. The office is also responsible for administering the college’s policies and procedures regarding student conduct and non-academic grievances.
The Title IX Coordinator works with Care Teams throughout SCC's district to ensure that consistent policies, practices and outcomes are in place.
The Student Success Center provides and connects students with supportive resources.
