Shawnee Professional Services Named ICCTA Business, Industry Partner of the Year
Shawnee Professional Services, a longstanding client of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Shawnee Community College, was recently honored with the Illinois Community College Trustees Association Business and Industry Partnership Award for 2017.
Candy Eastwood, coordinator for the Center for Community and Economic Development at Shawnee Community College, says it was a pleasure working with Shawnee Professional Services on the project.

Shawnee Community College and Shawnee Professional Services both received ICCTA Business and Industry Partnership awards at the Annual ICCTA Awards Banquet held on June 2nd, 2017 at the Marriott Bloomington-Normal Hotel and Conference Center located in Normal, Illinois.
Shawnee Professional Services is a professional design company specializing in land surveying, water and waste design, transportation design, topographic, utility mapping, right-of-way acquisitions and grant administration. The company was established in 1995 and decided to partner with Shawnee Community College in 1999 to increase their business development. Shawnee Professional Services is located in Shawnee Community College’s district in Vienna, Illinois.
The collaboration between Shawnee Professional Services and Shawnee Community College continues to create new opportunities and provide successful outcomes for both organizations. In 2015, Shawnee Community College and Shawnee Professional Services collaborated to identify which skills required updating for the Shawnee Professional Services workforce, leading to the addition of a Surveying Technician Certificate developed to meet the employer’s specific needs. Eleven of the 14 employees enrolled in the training program successfully completed, with several employees choosing to sit for the National Society of Professional Surveyors Level 1 – Surveying Technician examination which seven employees completed successfully.
Shawnee Professional Services was also named Shawnee Community College’s Business/ Industry Partnership of the Year for the preceding academic year.
Out of the 40 total employees at Shawnee Professional Services, 17 employees are graduates of Shawnee Community College.
