High School Equivalency / G.E.D. Program
The Shawnee Community College GED Program offers
assistance to students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to pass
the GED examination for a high school equivalency diploma. Some of the program

GED Program Guidelines
GED classes are offered at no cost to adults age 16 and over who have not
completed high school. Students under 18 must have a letter of separation from their high school district to enroll.
Instruction in English, social studies, science, mathematics and United States and Illinois Constitutions.
Day and Evening classes are also offered at several locations throughout
the college district each semester.
Some supportive services may be available for eligible students.
Students may enter class at any time during the school semester.
Classes are offered to students who have not completed high school and
desire to improve their skills in mathematics, reading and writing.
